Hi everyone, Rona here sharing a culinary creation, erm, I mean layout with lots of Evalicious' Life's Sweet embellishments.
Predominantly on this page, I have two of the 4x6 Life's Sweet Large Tags / PL cards layered at the top. I cut out the cute cups originally on these cards ahead of time, because I think I'll use them later and I didn't want to waste them. I really liked the colour of the light aqua blue with the white border. It's a really nice layering piece.
So... this week, my kids suckered persuaded me to buy black pasta. (To me, it reminds me of the black webbing that surrounded Spiderman when he turned bad, but I digress.) The spaghetti is coloured with cuttlefish ink, which sounds kind of gross, but actually doesn't make any difference to the flavour.
I made a white wine and garlic sauce that was absolutely delicious, and decided that putting it into my scrapbook would ensure that I would never lose it. :) (You can find the recipe here. I only added a squeeze of lemon, and mixed in some shrimp at the very end. Be sure to use proper heavy cream. The lemon will curdle the sauce if you just use milk). I plated it all up fancy-restaurant style with some grilled asparagus from the farmers' market on the side. Yum! (And I also figured out something to do with the leftover white wine. Win win.)
I think one of my favourite bits on this layout is this little wood veneer. Usually, I just put white acrylic paint on when I want it white, but sometimes that just yields more of a white-washed look. I wanted it to be REALLY white, so I covered it with Versamark ink and white embossing powder and then heat embossed it. Now it's super white, and shiny, too.
I made the mistake of trying to stamp over two different layers of paper at the same time with this "I Give This Meal (5 stars)", so I fixed my gaff by restamping it and layering it over one of the Life's Sweet Miscellany Stickers. No one will EVER know!
On the left, I changed the tone of the "Let's Do This" snip-snip page tab by adding "Again!". Layered with a badge button gives this corner of the layout a splash of the aqua and lime green to even out the colours on the page.
And, it almost goes without saying, that there are lots of really lovely puffy stickers here, too. My layouts aren't complete without them, these days!
Thanks for checking out this layout... and if you try the recipe, let me know how you liked it!
