For our 5 year anniversary, we decided to spend it in Hawaii, where we got married. I used a Simple Stories album as my base, goods from my Escape collection, lots of new stamps from my shop, & washi tape and paper clips from Freckled Fawn. I didn't pack that light this time - ended up bringing my Selphy CP800 with me! Why? Because I kinda wanted bigger photos for this album.
Got this decal sticker from the swap meet we went to at the Aloha StadiumPicked up some postcards at the Dole Plantation and just added them into the book at end.
My intro page on why we took this trip.
Each day of the trip would basically have a page on the left where I would include a photo, date & journaling. In the middle would be the clear sleeve/page protector (front & back) filled with photos, more journaling, and collected bits from our trip. And then last would be another paper page on the right. More below on how I break down my journaling.
A look at MONDAY:
This is what TUESDAY looks like - paper page, page protector in middle and then paper page all over again. If I wanted to add more stuff for that day into that section, I would just line up the holes from an existing page and poke holes with my Honeybee scissors.
Here I made 2 photos into a pocket by using washi tape to tape the top and bottom of the photos together then poking the holes and adding it to the album.
I tucked receipts into the pocket.
I used a cool stamp from the thought journal stamp set on the right bottom corner of this page. First I stamped it with Stazon ink then took a qtip to pick up some ink from an aqua ink pad and colored in "2" and then circle "nd" for Tuesday.
WEDNESDAY looks like this:
I added the zoo pamphlet onto a thin strip of paper about 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches long - this way the backside of the pamphlet is still visible. I want to remember the current pricing of admission to this place.
ON JOURNALING: At the end of each day, I would take some time to do a bit of journaling on my iPhone - this is my rough draft. My journaling consists of these 3 topics: what we did, observations, what we ate and gratitude. The amount of journaling I end up with for each topic helps to determine where I place this journaling. I would then save space on my "4 page spread" for the handwritten journaling to go. THEN I would go through my camera to look at the photos taken for the day and print up what I think sums up the day - keeping in mind the space I have for the photos helps me know what size to print the photos.

A look at our second MONDAY:
Found this Thai restaurant and really liked the taste there - decided to add their menu in the book.
A look at our second TUESDAY:
Again, a repeat of how I added pamphlets to the book. A coworker actually gave this one to me - it wasn't collected on the trip. I wanted to remember that I did this hike with my lil monkey on my back!
A look at our second WEDNESDAY - bye bye Hawaii!
A leftover page protector that I used to add extra receipts in.
Thanks for taking a peek at this little album - hope I've inspired you to make one for your trip:)
Oh, you remember my post about the green box that I use to keep my scrap stash on the go in? I used it on this trip but it went into the recycling bin after the trip because a naughty 3 year old broke it.
