been a busy elf :)

Christmas doesn't feel like Christmas without some handmade projects in the works in the studio:). This year it's glass pendant necklaces. Bought the supplies with the intention of making Myelle's baby shower thank you gifts with them but got lazy and noncreative so box of supplies was tucked away. Got inspired again when we went to a few craft fairs:).

These necklaces were a little intimidating at first because the amount of glue needed on the glass is tricky. I thought I was going to have to waste quite a few pieces but most were saveable after the glue dried.

I got my supplies at here (glass tiles, bail, necklace chains, glaze) and this is how I made these babies:

1. On parchment or wax paper work surface, apply a generous layer of SAMCK glaze on rough side of glass tile pendant. Not too thick or it will ooze out of sides. I find that practice will perfect the amount you apply.

2. Lay glass (glue side) down on top of cut out art piece. I bought files from here and printed them at a local office supply store in 32lb and 100lb wt paper and both turned out fine.

3. Hold glass tile in place for a minute or so after air bubbles have escaped from between tile and paper. Allow piece to dry undisturbed for a few hours.

4. Using fine scissors (I used my HoneyBee scissors), trim off excess paper and dried glaze so that paper is flush with tile and sand edges if needed.

5. Apply another generous layer of glaze on back side of tile (paper side). Allow to dry for a few hours.

6. Set bail on work surface and apply dab of glaze to rough side of bail then lay glass tile (paper side) on top of glue on bail. Allow to dry (doesn't take long).

7. Insert necklace chain through loop of bail that is now attached to glass tile. I packaged these along with a little note inside an organza bag and handed them out to some people on our list:). Everybody loved them!

Are you giving any handmade gifts this season?
